Uwe Platzbecker, MD, University of Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany, discusses the immune system’s role in the pathophysiology of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and its potential targeting to restore hematopoiesis. He highlights the modulation of checkpoint molecules with antibodies and the potentially curative role of CAR T-cells. This interview took place at the 29th Congress of the European Hematology Association (EHA) in Madrid, Spain.
